Uganda Trip, May 2023

As I was preparing in the weeks before I traveled to Uganda with BBI, I had some preconceived notions about what it would be like. Boy, was I wrong.

I knew that BBi had the well project and goat project but was so unaware of the impact it had on the villages. BBi is doing much more than just providing water to villages. Little did I know that villages are being totally transformed by the work God is doing through BBi. God gets the glory.

When I went to my first well dedication, I was amazed at the celebration that takes place. Some of these celebrations lasted 3-4 hours with people giving thanks to God. There are high ranking government officials there and almost the whole village turns out. They sing, dance, give speeches and offer their gratitude for the well.

The village politicians speak about crime rates going down, domestic violence was a prominent issue. Husbands would beat their wives because of the amount of time it would take to get water, sometimes up to 10-12 hours. They thought their wives were unfaithful because of how long it took.

There is always a short message spoken and God is honored and glorified. Praise be to Him. Once the village has a well the goat project is then introduced.

The goat project has allowed children who didn't have hope of an education an opportunity to get one. Many are getting an education that otherwise wouldn't be able to. Especially girls who are usually the ones that must walk miles for water.

The microcredit program has allowed villagers to start managing their own money by pooling their savings and then lend to people within their group to better their future by starting or expanding a business.

The schools and medical facilities that are helped by BBi are a true blessing, saving lives, educating young people, and teaching hygiene to all. I could go on and on about the good being done by BBi and Eric & Susan Sabiit, but this space is limited. These programs I've mentioned are doing great things to help save lives and pull people up.

The biggest impact this trip had in my life was witnessing the hand of God move in people's lives. There were a lot of people that I talked to that had been praying for water, financial help, a better life, education for their kids and help for their families. BBi is an avenue that God is using to answer people's prayers. So many people said, "I've been praying for years, and God has answered them today". What joy that brought to my heart. BBi is doing a great job spreading the gospel and being an answer to prayer. God is hearing the villagers and is faithful in answering their prayers.

God is truly moving in these villages due to the support of BBi by many people in the Imperial Valley. If you all had the chance to witness what I witnessed the last two weeks, you would truly be amazed at how many lives God has transformed by your faithful support to BBi.

Thank you to all donors. God is using you all for a greater purpose than I think you realize. Thank you Lord, for allowing us to be part of Your answer to prayer and seeing the lives that You are truly transforming.

Lord willing, I'm headed back next year.

Brian
